On Yom HaShoah, we stand in solemn remembrance of the six million Jews who perished in the Holocaust. We reflect not only on the immense loss, but on the strength of spirit, faith, and identity that endured even in the darkest moments. As a community of learning and growth, we carry their memory forward; committing ourselves to חיים של תורה, ערכים, and purpose. “זכור ימות עולם, בינו שנות דור ודור” ; “Remember the days of old; understand the years of each generation” (Devarim 32:7).
On Yom HaZikaron, our hearts are with the brave soldiers of the IDF and the victims of terror who gave their lives for Am Yisrael and Medinat Yisrael. For many in our Orot family, this day is deeply personal. We think of our students, alumni, and their families who are serving and sacrificing, and we daven for their safety. Their courage reminds us that the privilege of Jewish sovereignty comes with responsibility, unity, and unwavering dedication.
And then, we transition to Yom HaAtzmaut—marking the incredible miracle of Jewish independence. מתוך כאב צומחת תקווה—from pain emerges hope. We celebrate not only the establishment of the State of Israel, but the ongoing building of a society rooted in Torah, resilience, and vision. As we look to the future, we are inspired by the role our students will play in shaping the next chapter of Am Yisrael.
May we be worthy of the sacrifices of the past and the blessings of the present.
